Geodists map the shape and size of the earth. They use Global Position Systems (GPS) to pinpoint the exact location – within centimeters – of an object on the Earth’s surface. How? They use GPS transmitters on the ground to contact a minimum of 3satellites. The satellites share the exact coordinates of the transmitter. The geodist uses these coordinates to make maps.
