Construction Surveying

Houses. Skyscrapers. Bridges. Tunnels. Shopping malls. Offshore oil rigs. Utilities. A construction surveyor is one of the first professionals on the job. They take measurements of the area and advise architects, engineers, and contractors throughout the entire project.

Construction surveyors are very precise. They have to be. Their measurements pinpoint the exact location where an underground tunnel, road or bridge begins and ends. When building a factory, business park or housing development, they also determine the location for running water, sewer, phone and power lines.

Construction surveyors aid in rebuilding projects. For example, after Hurricane Katrina and the San Francisco earthquake, construction surveyors were needed to help reconstruct damaged buildings, roads and bridges.
