License Exams

To practice any discipline of surveying, an individual must pass a "minimum standards" exam, administered through the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), accompanied with a period of apprenticeship under a Licensed Professional Surveyor.

Since the state laws regarding land boundaries vary from state to state, each state has different requirements for licensure.

A Community College or University education  consisting of an Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in land surveying will provide you with the valuable knowledge you need to start a successful career in surveying.
